(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Congressman Mike Quigley, Democrat from Chicago’s North Side, urged President Biden to step down last night during broadcast interviews on MSNBC and CNN.

If President Biden doesn’t step aside, Quigley said, there will be “utter catastrophe.”

“Mr. President, your legacy is set. We owe you the greatest debt of gratitude.” Quigley said.

“The only thing that you can do now to cement that for all time and prevent utter catastrophe is to step down and let someone else do this.”

He said it's “pragmatic politics.”

Quigley spoke with WBBM Newsradio earlier this week. He said Biden that does not have anymore opportunities to change voter perceptions.

President Biden answered during an interview on ABC and during a rally in Madison, Wisconsin.

“So here’s my answer, ‘I am running and going to win again.’”

Quigley became the second Democratic Congressman to call for Biden to step down, behind Texas Congressman Lloyd Doggett.

Now, there are reports that a group of senators may do the same.

Sen. Mark Warner reached out to fellow senators throughout this week to discuss whether to ask Biden to exit the race, according to three people familiar with the effort who requested anonymity to talk about private conversations. The Virginia Democrat’s moves are notable given his chairmanship of the Senate Intelligence Committee and his reputation as a lawmaker who is supportive of Biden and has working relationships with colleagues in both parties. Warner’s effort was first reported by The Washington Post.
