(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — West suburban Congresswoman Lauren Underwood has tested positive for COVID-19 but is experiencing mild symptoms, she said in a statement released Friday.

"Today, upon returning from an official trip overseas, I tested positive for COVID-19. I was tested throughout my trip and tested negative," she said.

Underwood said she would isolate. She described her symptoms as "mild so far."

"I am grateful to have the protection of a safe vaccine and booster," she said.

The 35-year-old Underwood, a Naperville Democrate, represents the 14th Congressional District.
