OSWEGO, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Some residents of Oswego weighed in last night on a developer’s plan to built a cricket stadium.

Developer Paresh Patel, an Oswego resident and owner of a company called Chakra 360, wants to build a 24,000 seat open-air stadium, a hotel and restaurants on vacant land at Tuscany Trail and Orchard Road.

"I do have a dream of our flag flying high on our stadium with our national anthem in the background and chants of 'USA," he told the audience during a zoning board meeting.

Residents in the area said the stadium would be too big and voiced concerns about parking, traffic, noise and crime.

Oswego resident Dawn DeRosa was among those saying, ‘not in my backyard’ during the meeting.

"It will negatively impact the quality of life for all residents in our quiet neighborhood," she said. "We would have strangers walking through our yards, peeing in our pond and throwing up in our flower beds."

Her home is adjacent to the property. The process is in the early stages.
