A fast-food worker in Alabama has been charged with assault, according to police, after allegedly bringing a dispute in the drive-thru line to a violent end.
The Hueytown Police Department says the 50-year-old woman doused a customer in hot grease through the drive-thru window at an Arby’s in the Birmingham suburbs.
Police do not believe the woman under arrest or the woman she attacked knew each other and did not say what they believe caused the incident.
The victim suffered second-degree burns all over her body and has already filed a civil suit against the worker who has been arrested. Arby’s and the Alabama-based companies that own that particular franchise location are also named as defendants in the suit, according to court records.
Arby’s has already fired the worker and deemed the incident “reprehensible.”
“Our heart goes out to the guest, and we are working to help support their recovery,” reads a statement from the restaurant chain.
The worker has already posted the $30,000 bail.
