Family of missing Carpentersville teen increase reward as search carries on

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The search continues for a Carpentersville teen who’s now been missing for a week.

Monday afternoon, Carpentersville Police said they, along with Vernon Hills Police had narrowed their search for Romero, focusing in the area of Executive Way and Lakeview Parkway in Vernon Hills.

Law enforcement advised residents to avoid the area.

Loved ones gathered outside a Vernon Hills bowling alley Sunday, desperate to find Brissa Romero. The 17-year-old was on her way to attend a holiday party at Bowlero in Vernon Hills but never made it.

Brissa’s sister Dulce Romero told CBS-2 she left her cousin’s house in Des Plaines last Monday night and that’s when communication went silent.

“Nothing was going through. None of our cousins, none of her friends, none of our family was through…nothing was ringing…We’re like, ‘this is weird,’” Romero said.

Brissa was last seen driving a gray 2008 Nissan Rogue with a black coyote bumper sticker.
