(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Rockford community leaders gathered at the scene of this week’s fatal rampage to help neighbors begin to process what happened and find a path forward.
Dozens of people showed up Thursday for a vigil to honor the four people who were killed a day earlier when, authorities say, Christian Soto, went on a violent spree that included attacking people with a knife. At least seven others were injured.
Crosses stood in for the victims who died. The Winnebago County Coroner's Office identified them as 63-year-old Ramona Schupbach; 23-year-old Jacob Schupbach; 15-year-old Jenna Newcomb and a 49-year-old Jay Larson, a USPS letter carrier.

“Nobody’s got to lie about how much they loved him,” Lawrence Steward, president of the National Association of Letter Carriers branch, told the crowd.
Soto faces several charges and made his initial court appearance Thursday.
