(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police in north suburban Round Lake Beach said a 17-year-old boy died after he fell from a fence early Thursday morning.
The teen was climbing the fence outside of his family's home, located near Evergreen Lane and Eagle Creek Drive, at about 12:30 a.m. when he fell, officials said.
Police said people in the home, as well as neighbors, heard a loud crash, discovered the boy and called 911.
Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene, officials said the teen was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities said their initial investigation suggested the fall was accidental.
Round Lake Beach police shared no other details.
