A northwest suburban high school will celebrate a special alum on Friday.
Cameron Krutwig is the pride of Jacobs High School in Algonquin, and student body and staff will celebrate as the Loyola University Ramblers move into the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
Principal Barb Valley said the 6-foot-9 center was a school leader and a big personality when he was a student and continues to shine on and off the basketball court.
The timing of Loyola’s ascent is perfect.
“There hasn’t been a lot to celebrate in the last year, and at one point we weren’t even sure we’d have college basketball. So, getting college basketball, getting a tournament, and now having Cam and the Ramblers do so well — it just really gives us something positive,” Valley said.
Students and staff will wear maroon and gold Friday to celebrate Cameron Krutwig Day at Jacobs High School.
The Ramblers play Oregon State on Saturday.
