(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — It has now been a week since a dog escaped from a doggy daycare in the South Loop, and the owner is worried and grateful.
“I cannot express how grateful I am for the warmth and support we've gotten,” Laura Simpler, the owner of Minnie, said.
Her dog is the 7-year-old little black dog that seemingly everyone in Chicago was looking for.
“It's all about, you know, statistics versus anecdotes and for some reason, and, you know, I feel very blessed and grateful.
Minnie has captured the hearts.
Reinforcements went to work this weekend. A pet recovery team, volunteers, and complete strangers totaling nearly 100 people canvassed downtown Chicago, looking for Minnie who has been missing since last Sunday.
The dog's picture has been all over social media and on posted flyers since she took off from PUPS Pet Club in the South.
Simpler says Minnie was staying at the doggie daycare last week when somehow she got out of her crate and opened several doors before running down Michigan Avenue.
To help in the search, the daycare has even hired a pet psychic and a thermal drone pilot.
Anyone who spots Minnie is asked not to approach her as she is skittish. If she is spotted, take videos and photos and call the hotline PUPS has set up at 410-960-1516.
WBBM's Varen Black and Terry Keshner contributed to this report.
