(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A settlement has been reached between a Rosemont hotel and the family of a 19-year-old Chicago woman who died of hypothermia in a walk-in freezer 6 years ago.

Kenneka Jenkins was found dead in the freezer at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel early on September 10, 2017 after she had gone to the hotel for a private party.

On surveillance video, a disoriented Jenkins was seen wandering around alone, and authorities determined she had entered the freezer and was unable to get out. Alcohol and medication in her system were believed to have played a part in her death, which the medical examiner ruled accidental.

The circumstances of her death generated controversy, partly because Jenkins was not found until several hours after she was reported missing. Friends and family members suggested foul play had occurred and that police mishandled the case, but Rosemont authorities pushed back, releasing surveillance video and other materials.

The terms of the settlement were confidential. Besides the hotel, its security company and restaurant were also part of the suit.
