(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A man from Ohio is in custody in Lake County, after the sheriff's office said he traveled over 300 miles to have a sexual encounter with a young girl — who turned out to be a detective.
Zachary Clemens, a 38-year-old man from Dublin, Ohio, was arrested on Monday as a result of a weekslong sting operation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Group and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
Investigators said Clemens was chatting online with a sheriff's detective who was posing as a young girl.
During the conversations, police said Clemens sent nude photos of himself to who he thought was the young child.
Upon his arrest, detectives also found a small amount of cocaine, according to the sheriff's office.
Clemens has now been charged with numerous felonies include attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation of a child, and unlawful posession of a controlled substance.
