Shooting after teen gathering in Loop leaves one dead, another injured

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago police said one person is dead and another injured after a gathering of teens in the Loop turned fatal Saturday evening.

Officers were near the 500 block of West Roosevelt, when shots were fired shortly after 8 p.m. They discovered two male victims in the parking lot of a bank with gunshot wounds, police said.

Officers attempted to help the victims and perform life-saving measures before the Chicago Fire department arrived on scene.

A 17-year-old unidentified male was transported to Stroger hospital with gunshot wounds to the chest and neck and was pronounced dead.

A 15-year-old male was also transported to Stroger hospital and is listed in fair condition, with a gunshot wound to the left leg.

A suspect is in custody and a weapon was recovered on scene, according to police. Area Three detectives are currently investigating the incident.
