Shooting disrupts SW Side prayer vigil, killing man, wounding 6 others: CPD
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A prayer vigil on the Southwest Side Saturday night ended in tragedy after a drive-by shooting left one man killed and six others wounded.
Chicago Police said the incident occurred a little after 10 p.m. in front of a home at 25th and Spaulding in the Little Village neighborhood.
A group was gathered out in front when a jeep pulled up and a suspect got out of the vehicle and began shooting, police said.
Seven were people hit by gunfire and took themselves to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Police said one of the victims, a 32-year-old man, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He eventually was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Cook County Medical Examiner has identified the man as Froylan Garcia of Berwyn.
Six other victims were initially hospitalized and described to be in fair condition, police said.
They are all adult men , with four in their 30s.The two others were a 48-year-old man and 51-year-old man, both with a gunshot wound to their lower half.
No one is in custody, Area Four Detectives are investigating.
