
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A shooting investigation on the Dan Ryan Expressway caused quite the disruption to the morning commute.
All lanes of the Outbound Dan Ryan have now reopened following an overnight shooting.
Illinois State Police said shots were fired on the Outbound Dan Ryan near 87th Street, shortly after 4:30 a.m. According to the ISP scanner, a vehicle was struck at least six times with bullets.
No injuries were reported.
In order to conduct their investigation, state police shut down all outbound lanes, beginning at around 83rd Street and stretching to 95th Street, at around 5:15 a.m.
The closure lasted for over 90 minutes.
Delays piled up on both sides of the expressway. The backup on the Outbound Dan Ryan eclipsed 40 minutes.
All lanes of the Outbound Dan Ryan reopened right before 7 a.m.
That didn’t last long however. Soon after the reopening, a three-vehicle crash occurred on the ramp at 59th Street, on the Outbound Dan Ryan, causing all local lanes to be shut down from 47th to 59th.
