(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police in northwest Indiana are asking for the public’s help after someone opened fire inside a shopping mall food court and then took off -- leaving behind damage and shell casings.

Officers in Hobart responded to calls of a shooting at Southlake Mall around 11:20 a.m. Thursday and found no active shooters and no apparent victims.

Pictures from the scene show some broken glass, and police said they found evidence of at least five shots fired.

The mall was expected to reopen Friday.

Police say they're hoping someone comes forward with video of what happened.
