(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A sick coyote is doing much better after a northwest suburban wildlife clinic came to its rescue.
The emaciated and dehydrated female coyote was found in Darien this week suffering from mange, Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation Director Dawn Keller said. The animal almost died, but made progress shortly after they began treating the coyote.
“I got back and started working on her and worked on her pretty much through the night,” Keller told WBBM Newsradio on Friday. “She’s on an IV, and she’s got meds and she was standing this morning, which was absolutely amazing, considering her condition yesterday.”
Keller said coyotes are misunderstood animals.
“I’ve never been injured by a coyote in my care.”
