(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A 23-year-old Skokie man accused of making several false bomb and violence threats across the suburbs has been charged with felonies, authorities said Wednesday.
Jacob Spiro was behind the series of threats directed at locations across the suburbs in September and October, according to Niles police, who worked on the case with detectives from Wilmette, Morton Grove, Skokie, Northbrook and Glenview.
Des Plaines police say they responded twice to the same Mariano’s supermarket on Oct. 4 for bomb and violence threats that were unfounded. They say the calls were made from a phone that could only make 9-1-1 calls, with an automated female voice.
Niles police took Spiro into custody Monday after investigators studied digital forensic evidence. Police agencies say felony charges against Spiro include disorderly conduct and falsely making a terrorist threat.
He was expected in court Wednesday, but no further details were immediately available.
