A Chicago rock star is taking the stage as part of the upcoming 2025-2026 season of the Lyric Opera.
It's been 30 years since the breakthrough album the Smashing Pumpkins' “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness”. Now Chicago rocker Billy Corgan is marking the anniversary with a collaboration with the Lyric Opera.
Corgan says he could never have dreamed to be composing and reimagining his music on the Lyric stage.
The new season also features traditional operas, two world premieres, two lyric premiers, three new to Chicago productions, movie nights, a solo recital with Renee Fleming and Chicago Poet Laureate avery r. young, who writes and stars in the musical “Safronia”. The new season opens on Friday, Oct. 10 with the Lyric Opening Concert & Gala.
