CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A quiet Sunday night is expected to give way to snow showers and strong winds on Monday morning in the Chicago area.
AccuWeather Meteorologist Carl Erickson said the snowfall could likely coat roadways and create poor visibility for drivers during the morning rush hour.
Although most of the Chicago area should expect to see flurries, the National Weather Service predicted “scattered gusty snow showers” across the area, with winds reaching up to 45 mph.
Due to the gusts, wind chill temperatures could dip into the teens, NWS officials said.
The worst of the snowfall was predicted to miss the Chicago area and instead hit Indiana’s Porter County, as well as parts of southwest Michigan. Those areas could see up to 2 inches of accumulation.
