CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A South Side resident got a one-of-a-kind Christmas present...courtesy of a legendary athlete.
Legendary football and baseball player Bo Jackson showed up at a home on the South Side to help deliver a truckload of gifts and a home makeover to a pregnant single mother of three.
Jackson played for the White Sox in the early 90's and football for the Los Angeles Raiders and the Kansas City Royals in the 80's.
The team worked with the non-profit Digs with Dignity to deliver the gifts to Tanika Harmon. She said she faced a number of challenges in life including bouts of homelessness.
"I've been wanting something like this all my life," Harmon told ABC 7. "And since I didn't have nothing, y'all gave my kids what I didn't have, and I appreciate it so much."
Jackson now lives in Burr Ridge. He told Harmon that he remembered hardships when he grew up including several Christmases where his parents couldn't afford gifts.
