CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 71-year-old woman was stabbed and badly injured near Chicago’s Union Station on Wednesday afternoon, a police spokesperson said.
Chicago police said it happened around 1:30 p.m., when they said a male offender stabbed the woman multiple times with what was described as a “sharp object.”
The man fled the scene, but the victim's husband said a stranger managed to help catch the offender.
First responders took the woman to a nearby local hospital. She was initially reported to be in critical condition, police said.
Charges against the man are expected soon as area detectives continue their investigation.
