SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- With a heavy police and National Guard presence in Springfield, WBBM Newsradio's Dave Dahl checks out the scene in front of the statehouse.
Greeting the Biden Administration in Springfield, Illinois: nobody.
A half hour before the inaugural, a couple of men from the Metro East - one from Highland and one from Belleville - both wanted to see what was going on and paused for a few minutes in front of the Lincoln statue.
One said he is pretty sure the election was stolen. He said he voted for Donald Trump in both elections.
The man said he was hoping there would be a peaceful march at the Illinois State Capitol - but that did not appear to be the case Wednesday, as the streets surrounding the building were empty.
The other said there was probably fraud, but said he did not vote for Donald Trump in either election.
WBBM Newsradio's Dave Dahl said Springfield has got to be the safest place in downstate Illinois on Wednesday, due to the amount of police and National Guard presence.
