CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A new survey that tracked how people in the Chicago area feel about the Chicago Bears possibly relocating to Arlington Heights found many are in favor.
The automated telephone survey was conducted by Inverness-based political consulting firm Cor Strategies. The survey was taken between June 17-21.
According to the results obtained by the Daily Herald, half of respondents said they supported the move, while 16 percent said they somewhat support the team relocating to the site of the Arlington Park racetrack. Meanwhile, 15 percent strongly opposed the move and 11 percent were unsure.
Respondents to the poll who live in the suburbs overwhelmingly support a move to the suburbs. The survey found 77 percent in suburban Cook County support relocation, followed by 70 percent in DuPage, Kane, and Will counties.
It's also a hit with the team's potential new neighbors. The poll said 83 percent of respondents in Arlington Heights are in favor, with just 12 percent opposed.
People who live in Chicago, on the other hand, are on the fence, with 44 percent in favor of relocation and 37 percent opposed.
The automated phone poll surveyed 1,078 people and has a margin of error of 2.98 percent. Anyone who answered that they are a Green Bay Packers fan were excluded.
