(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A teenage entrepreneur in West Chicago has become a successful YouTuber by exploring his passion for animatronic Halloween decorations.

Miles McCabe, who goes by the moniker “Brick Thunder,” is known for his “unboxing” videos that show him assembling macabre figures that move, pivot and play recorded messages. His extensive collection was featured in a recent video entitled “My Full 2023 Animatronic Collection!” It’s 34 minutes long.

The 17-year-old said he began gaining traction online a few years ago and has acquired sponsors, in addition to starting his own business ventures catering to people who are Halloween enthusiasts.

“It’s amazing,” McCabe said of his success. He was the Entrepreneur Friday guest on the Noon Business Hour. “I am getting paid for everything. I recycle that money back into animatronics so I can get more and get paid more from that.”

Next year, the St. Charles East High School student said, he would like to set up an attraction, or “haunt,” where he can charge people to view his collection.

McCabe said animatronics have become more popular in recent years, as has Halloween.

“People just love to see monsters,” he said.
