LAKE BARRINGTON, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The supply chain issues that have plagued much of the economy recently are also affecting the artificial Christmas tree market and the owner of one local shop says the time to order a tree for this holiday season is now.

Laurie Kane owns Treetime in Lake Barrington.

"We have experienced some of the same supply chain issues that almost everybody in the country has been experiencing, so normally we would have our trees in sometimes August; sometimes early September is when we like to get them in," Kane said.

She also said those shipments are only arriving now.

"The good news is we have a bunch of trees in our showroom all set up for people to come look at and what we're doing is just we're taking pre-orders for the trees," she added.

Kane advised if you can't find the artificial tree you want in stock, you should order it now to make sure you get it in time for Christmas.

She also warns that as we get closer to the holidays, shipping could take longer as deliveries of other holiday purchases such as gifts increase significantly.
