(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Workers at a far west suburban bike shop are sweeping up today, after a break-in involving an intruder who can't even ride a bike, because he doesn't have feet.

Dan Sibley works at Blue Moon Bikes in downtown Sycamore and he said what happened with a large deer Saturday night was apparently a case of "mistaken identity."

“Well, it sounded like what he did was he saw a shadow in the window, he wanted to fight. So he jumped, he jumped at what he thought was another deer, I'm assuming,” Sibley said.

Things inside the shop got messy.

“And he broke right through the glass and went inside. Police were here and then called conservation officer and he went down the basement and in a little room in the basement there. So then the conservation officer went down there and then they coaxed him back outside.”

Video on the Blue Moon Bikes Facebook page shows the frightened deer at the bottom of the basement steps before it left the bike shop, after doing quite a bit of damage.

“No people were hurt or injured and the deer was ok. I mean, they got him back outside and he took off down the street.”

Blue Moon Bikes also posted a video of the deer running off down the street. He was last reported going north on California Street.
