CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- CTA weekly ridership was a nearly all time high earlier this month, with help from fans of a certain global superstar.
CTA said it saw an additional 43,000 bus and rail rides during the three days Taylor Swift was in town at the beginning of the month.
Around 690,000 riders tapped onto the system on June 10- many visiting summer festivals like the Chicago Blues Fest in Millennium Park and the Old Town Art Fair.
Overall, CTA said it provided over 5.5 million rides for the first two weeks of June- the highest since the start of the pandemic.
This builds on ridership increases seen since the start of the Kennedy reconstruction project in late March.
