CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Chicago police SWAT team arrested a teenager Wednesday night after shots were fired during a robbery attempt on the South Side.

Police said the 17-year-old was responsible for opening fire on a 60-year-old-man during an attempted robbery in Armour Square.

According to police, the man was walking near Pershing and Wentworth, just before 8:20 p.m., when the teen approached him and tried to take his belongings, leading to a struggle.

As the teen fled, he allegedly turned and fired shots at the man, though none of them hit the man.

The teen then ran into a nearby residence. He was later taken into custody.
