ROUND LAKE BEACH (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police are investigating a shooting in Round Lake Wednesday night that left a teen from Fox Lake dead.
Round Lake Beach police found a 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound at a gas station near Cedar Lake and Rollins while responding to a 9-1-1 call at about 8:20pm. The boy was taken to the hospital, where he died.
An early police investigation indicates he was shot while riding in a black car that had stopped about a mile away in Round Lake, likely to meet someone.
Afterwards, police believe the gunman and driver both took off, with the driver leaving the wounded teen and the car at the gas station.
The Lake County Major Crime Task Force is looking for those involved as it helps in the investigation.
