(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Texas bus company has taken the City of Chicago to court over its rules for when and where intercity bus companies may drop off migrants in Chicago.
In its federal lawsuit, Wynne Transportation argued that Chicago is “turning its back” on migrants who wish to travel to Chicago by targeting bus companies that transport migrants from the U.S. southern border.
The Chicago ordinance said bus companies must get permission from the city to schedule a drop-off at the city’s migrant landing zone and cannot show up unannounced.
Penalties include the impounding of buses, which has happened at least a couple of times.
The lawsuit claims the Chicago ordinance is unconstitutional. The city’s law department said it does not comment on pending litigation.
