On this World Crocodile Day, WBBM got an up close and personal look at one… inside of a local attraction that’s not known for its live animals.
It’s business as usual here in the lobby of the Field Museum… but behind a few closed doors?
“This is an exhibit which is filled with live reptiles. We have 22 different animals here.”
Ben Miller is Developer of the museum’s new “Reptiles Alive!” Exhibition.
“Everything from rock iguanas to venomous snakes to a crocodile.”
While just hearing the names of some of those animals, which are on loan from a Pennsylvania zoo, may send shivers down your spine…Miller says that’s kind of the point.
“I think that it’s really important that people who might be apprehensive about snakes or other reptiles get a chance to meet them up close. These are all very shy, skittish animals.”
Something this reporter can confirm, having come face to face with a very shy African Dwarf Crocodile.
The exhibit opens to the public this Friday.
