CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- About 60,000 people were expected to attend Chicago Pridefest Northalsted on the city's north side this weekend.
Dave Larson of Humboldt Park was among those celebrating near Halsted and Addison.
"There's a lot of hate and misunderstanding on the world and I think when people see others get together and just have a supportive community that there's no negative sides to."
Brittany Moore of Wicker Park was there having a good time as well.
"I just love these people. It's such a good vibe," she said. "Lot of stuff happening in the world, but you look around and everybody's just supportive and loving the way they should love, so I'm here for it."
A $15 suggested donation for entry helps pay performers and festival workers, and funds community programs.
Many of those attending said they are looking forward to next weekend's annual Chicago Pride Parade as well.
