CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The Black House, Gender and Sexuality Resource Center, and Multicultural Center at Northwestern University have been closed since last week.
A message was discovered Tuesday evening on a white board at the Multicultural Center which read “I am insane, also I have a gun."
The Multicultural Student Affairs office assistants immediately called the Northwestern Police Department, then closed the building.
In a campus-wide alert, Northwestern University denounced the threat, saying the message violates the school’s commitments to creating a safe, secure and welcoming environment for all students, faculty and staff.
While it’s unclear if any arrests have been made, the diverse spaces are set to reopen on Thursday.
Administrators encouraged all students, faculty and staff to stand together against intimidation, and to support a diverse and thriving community.
