(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Three people are fighting for their lives after a hot-air balloon accident in Wisconsin Wednesday night.
Police in Burlington, which is 12 miles northeast of Lake Geneva, responded to a call around 8:15 p.m. that a hot air balloon had hit a train and that three people had life-threatening injuries.
"Early reports from witnesses on scene indicate the hot air balloon appeared in distress and collided with a Northbound Canadian National Train," said a new release from the Burlington Police Department.
Two of the victims were transported to Froedtert Hospital via helicopter and the third victim was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, according to police.
Burlington Police are working with the National Traffic Safety Board, Federal Aviation Administration, Canadian National, and the Wisconsin State Patrol to determine the cause of the accident.
