(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A tornado watch has been issued for the Chicago area and parts of northwest Indiana and southern Wisconsin until 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service made the announcement Tuesday afternoon as the region was expected to undergo a startling change – from sunny skies and mid-70s temperatures to storms (with rain, flash flooding and hail possible) and extreme temperature plunges. Wednesday was expected to be in the 20s to 30s.

The good news: A warmup was expected for the weekend.
