(CHICAGO) -- A group that advocates for transit riders is highly critical of CTA leadership, as service on the Yellow Line remains shut down following November's collision between a commuter train and a piece of snow-removal equipment.
A CTA spokesperson says the crash is still being evaluated, so the transit agency can’t say when service will resume.
But Michael Podgers, policy lead for Better Streets Chicago, says he can’t understand why it is taking so long or why the CTA isn’t offering a better explanation.
“We are disappointed in this response from the CTA. We are not necessarily surprised by this response,” Podgers said Tuesday.
The flow of information to riders has decreased ever since the pandemic, he said. Better Streets Chicago is calling for new leadership at the CTA.
Federal officials launched an investigation after the Nov. 16 collision between the train and snow removal equipment near the Howard station.
