(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- If you're heading to either of Chicago's airports this week or next, be prepared to deal with a lot more travelers and traffic.

The Chicago Department of Aviation is expecting more than 2.5 million passengers to travel through O'Hare and Midway from Friday through April 10.

The aviation commissioner says the reason for the uptick is the combination of spring break and Holy Week, in addition to Ramadan already being underway.

Friday is expected to be the busiest travel day at Midway.  Meanwhile, O'Hare is expecting the largest number of travelers on Thursday April 6.

The CDA is urging travelers to take public transportation to and from both airports whenever possible -- especially at O'Hare, given the ongoing construction on the Kennedy.
