Trio of 15-year-olds charged with CTA Red Line robberies

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Three teens face felony charges stemming from two armed robberies on the North Side Tuesday night.

Chicago police say the first armed robbery happened in the 1700 block of Sheffield when two 15-year-old boys robbed a 22- year- old man around 8:15 p.m.

About 30 minutes later, police said the two boys and a 15-year-old girl robbed a 23-year-old man on the platform at the CTA North and Clybourn station. The man told police they were armed and took his belongings before fleeing on a train.

The three teens were arrested at the Cermak-Chinatown stop when waiting officers spotted them just before 9:30 p.m.

The boys are each charged with two felony counts of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, and the girl is facing one felony count.
