Lake County charges two men in their late teens with murder after a shooting in broad daylight in Waukegan left one dead

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s office charged 18-year-old Jorge Medina and 19-year-old Fernando Andino with first-degree murder after a shooting Sunday afternoon in Waukegan.

As of Monday morning, both men have been taken into custody.

Lake County prosecutors said the shootings took place late Sunday afternoon near a restaurant parking lot.

State officials wrote in a press release that both men appeared before Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak Wednesday morning. Andino will be held on a $3 million bond, and Medina will be held with no bond.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
