CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Charges are pending against a 25-year-old man who killed two pedestrians Friday in West Rogers Park.

Police said around 5:30 p.m. the man ran a red light on Western Avenue and Pratt Boulevard and broad-sided a car waiting to make a turn and then veered onto a sidewalk.  Two women including an 88-year-old were present and both were hit.

The elderly woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The second one died at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where the driver who caused the crash was taken. His injuries were not life-threatening.

The driver of the car that was struck, a 22 year-old woman, was not hurt.
