Joliet police arrest two teens following a tense and frightening police chase Friday afternoon.
The chase involved a Joliet police officer firing his gun at one of the teen suspects who they said struck an unmarked squad car.
Police said it all started when officers found a stolen Mercedes Benz they believed was involved in a carjacking that morning. That car was in the 800 block of Ewing Street just before 12:30 p.m.
A police spokesman said while a 16-year-old was taken into custody at the residence, a 15-year-old jumped into the Mercedes Benz and drove off nearly striking an officer.
Another officer fired at the suspect, but didn't hit him. The boy stopped only after crashing into other vehicles, including the police squad car. That officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
