(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Nurses at UChicago Medicine say staffing concerns are leading to patient safety issues, and that has them considering a possible one-day strike.

Amber Turi, an ICU nurse, said the labor action would be a last resort if negotiations stall. One colleague said staffing levels are a concern and date back to the pandemic.

The University of Chicago Medical Center released a statement to WBBM Newsradio saying, in part, that there has been "steady progress" in negotiations, with two dozen tentative agreements reached.

More bargaining sessions are scheduled.
