(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Cook County judge this week found a foreign man who lived at O’Hare Airport for three months not guilty of trespassing.
Aditya Singh’s defense did not have to present a case. The Chicago Tribune reports the judge made a “directed verdict” in finding him not guilty of felony criminal trespass in a restricted part of the airport.
It was a year ago last week the 37-year-old landed at O’Hare from Los Angeles on his way back home to India as his visa was expiring.
He told prosecutors he was too afraid to keep flying because of COVID-19. The Tribune said Singh’s public defender argued there’s no evidence Singh entered any restricted areas of the airport.
He’s reportedly due back in court Friday for an electronic monitoring violation.
