CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) – A 43-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle Sunday night on Chicago’s Near West Side, police said.
The crash happened around 9 p.m. near the intersection of Ogden Avenue and Ashland Avenue, just a few blocks from the United Center.
According to police, a 17-year-old driver was traveling eastbound on Ogden in a silver SUV when she struck the woman, who was crossing the street against the traffic signal.
The woman suffered severe head injuries and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A witness at the scene told officers the driver had a green light at the time of the crash.
No citations have been issued, and Area Three detectives are investigating.
