CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Food and beverage workers at the United Center have voted to ratify a new contract with Levy Restaurants.
Officials said 98% of the concession workers voted in favor of the deal, which includes raises, as well as health and retirement benefits.
Unite Here Local 1 said the workers “have changed stadium jobs and the lives of stadium workers in the city forever.”
The union members pressed for an agreement when they staged a one-day strike earlier this month.
“These workers will now earn wages where they can support a family, retire with dignity and have good quality health insurance," Union President Karen Hunt said following the vote.
