EVANSTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police have lifted a lockdown at Lincolnwood Elementary that was triggered by the discovery of a gun clip on school grounds.
Evanston/School District 65, at around 10 a.m., placed the school, located on Colfax and McDaniel, on lockdown as a precaution. At time of the alert, police noted there was no active threat.
Once officers completed their investigation of the handgun magazine, the lockdown ended. It lasted for nearly an hour.
Police said the school district will provide an update of the situation later this afternoon.
