(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Two women were wounded in a shooting Friday night at Guaranteed Rate Field as the White Sox played the Oakland Athletics, according to Chicago police.

Police responded to the shooting immediately and found two women with gunshot wounds about 7:30 p.m., police said.

The older woman, 42, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where she is listed in fair condition, police said.

The younger woman, 26, was grazed in the abdomen. She refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

“At no time was it believed there was an active threat,” police said.

According to a White Sox statement shared early Saturday, the incident did not involve an altercation of any kind.

Fans told reporters outside the ballpark the shooting happened around the third inning, and then security cleared people out of the section and the game between the White Sox and Oakland A's continued.

A strong police presence was apparent at Guaranteed Rate, in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood. A post-game concert at the ballpark featuring Vanilla Ice and Ton Loc was canceled, for "technical reasons."

Many fans were not aware of the shooting incident, and word of it did not begin filtering out until after the game concluded.
