(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An updated version of the COVID-19 vaccine has been approved.
The FDA approved the most recent version of the COVID-19 shot.
“The manufacturers periodically update the virus that's in the vaccine to make it up to date with what's with the virus that's circulating in the community. So a better match to the current circulating strain should mean better protection when you receive a vaccine,” Mary Anderson is a manager of infection prevention for Endeavor Health.
And Anderson says COVID cases are on the rise across the Chicagoland area.
“You are likely to encounter COVID. The best safest way to protect yourself is with the vaccine.”
