CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - It's a big day in the world of card collecting. Blackhawks star Connor Bedard's rookie card has arrived.
Copies could be worth $1,000 on the open market. But, you'll have a lot of competition if you enter the chase.
“There are people collecting hockey now that weren’t even hockey fans, just because of Connor Bedard,” said Ronnie Holloway, owner of Elite Sports Cards and Comics.
The shop, located on Montrose near Damen, is Chicago’s oldest sports card store.

Holloway is throwing a party as collectors tear open boxes of this year's Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey set, looking for a coveted “Young Guns” Bedard card.
“I’m giving packs, I’m going to give t-shirts, a lot of good things and just have fun and enjoy,” Holloway said.
Maybe someone will even pull a variant, with a special border or stamp, that could raise that resale value even higher.
