(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Illinois Lottery continues waiting for the winner of a $56 million Mega Millions drawing to claim the prize, but the owner of the southwest suburban gas station where the ticket was sold suggests that person knows about the jackpot.
The owner of the Citgo on Pulaski Road near Midlothian Turnpike in Crestwood said about a week after the June 8 drawing, one of his employees believes he saw the winner come into the station.
“The customer walked in, checked his ticket, found out that he was the winner. Once he found out he won, he basically fell to the floor out of joy, got back up and started screaming ‘I won! I won!’ and took off out the door,” said the owner, who identified himself only as “Cue.”
Cue said the person is a regular customer, but he doesn't know the customer's name.
The owner is also a big winner. His gas station gets $500,000 from the lottery for selling the winning ticket.
